The communication between the Sofar EMS and the TeltoCharge operates via an RS-485 serial bus or Modbus TCP.
It is recommended to use shielded cables with twisted pairs for optimal performance. For short distances, a twisted pair from a network cable (minimum CAT5e) can be used.
The following guidelines apply:
Example of cable setup:
| Cable Wire | Charging Station | Sofar EMS | RS485 USB |
|---|---|---|---|
| Modbus Cable | Terminal RS485 A | Terminal RS485 A | Terminal RS485 A |
| Modbus Cable | Terminal RS485 B | Terminal RS485 B | Terminal RS485 B |
| Shield | Terminal RS485 GND | Terminal RS485 GND | Terminal RS485 GND |
The TeltoCharge needs to have modbus enabled:
If you have multiple charging stations it is important to set the modbus addresses, each charging station should have a different address.
