WHES Three Phase Hybrid Inverter Protocol (RTU)The Sofar EMS communicates with this device over Modbus RTU on RS485. This device has no Modbus TCP interface, so an Ethernet connection cannot be used.
Run the communication cable directly from the VPP 485 port of the device to an RS485 port on the Sofar EMS.
| Device | Sofar EMS model OM1 | Sofar EMS model IG8 | RS485-USB converter | RS485-Ethernet converter |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| VPP_485A | RS485 A | RS485_POS | RS485 A | TX+ |
| VPP_485B | RS485 B | RS485_NEG | RS485 B | TX- |
| N/A | RS GND | GND | Not available | G |
The Sofar EMS supports only these serial settings for this device:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Protocol | Modbus RTU |
| Baud rate | 115200 |
| Parity | None |
| Data bits | 8 |
| Stop bits | 1 |
| Modbus address | 1 (default), 1 - 247 supported |
Scan in daylight
The Sofar EMS can only detect the PV inputs of this inverter while they carry voltage. Run the scan in daylight: a scan at night or under heavy cloud misses the PV inputs. If PV is missing after a scan, repeat it in daylight.
A custom TIA103 three-phase HV integration uses the WHES V1.3.1 protocol over RS485 at 115200 baud, 8N1, unit ID 1. Device discovery, measurements and scheduler command handling have been observed. Confirm the exact nameplate rating and physical charge/discharge response during commissioning; a serial-number rule for single-phase SIA units does not establish a TIA rating.
